The frigate Peder Skram is located next to the Mast crane at Marine Station Holmen which is a historical and military area called Nyholm. It also has a number of beautiful and impressive old buildings.

The Frigate is placed at the Mast Crane at Naval Station Holmen, in a historical military area called Nyholm. The area is featuring a number of beautiful old buildings worth seeing. The Naval Station is open to public from 8 a.m. and untill sunset.

 

How to find Peder Skram

 

By car drive via "Kløvermarken" and "Forlandet" to Nyholm. Free admittance to the Naval Station between 8.00 p.m. and until sunset. Close to Peder Skram, there are parkering facilitees.

Notice that it is permissible for cars for HDMS Peder Skram, to drive into the Naval station, regardless of the signs.

 

By bus 9A direction: Refshaleøen: Get off at "Fabriksmestervej" (last stop before the Opera). The gates to the Naval Station are found 150 meter further along the road. See more on www.moviatrafik.dk/dinrejse/koereplaner

 

By harbour bus line 999/992: Get off at "Holmen Nord" from where there is 100 meter to the Naval Station. See www.moviatrafik.dk/dinrejse/koereplaner

 

By Canal Tours "Hop On/Hop-Off": During Summer the boats will call at Peder Skram at Elefanten. See www.stromma.dk

 

Further sights at Nyholm:

 

Long ago the northern and oldest part of Holmen, called "The Berth of the Navy", the buildings from the 1700 century like the main guard building - called "Under the Crown" - as well as the Mast Crane were declared protected area. The old tackle buildings and the mould loft are worth a visit. At Nyholm you will find, too, the renovated "Battery Sixtus" flying the Ensign of the Nation and displaying the saluting guns.

 

In the Summer season you may see the Royal Yacht, HDMS Dannebrog, moored at buoy no. 1, and you can visit the submarine HDMS Sælen and the missile/torpedoboat HDMS Sehested. See www.skibepaaholmen.dk for more info.

 

On weekdays it is possible to eat and drink coffee at the cafeteria of the naval barracks just a few minutes' walk from Peder Skram.
